Last night the JRA team celebrated alongside clients Morgan Capital partners and Sports Direct and contractor ISG at a topping out ceremony for Academy House. The ceremony marks the completion of concrete works to the envelope. The building, situated at 161-167 Oxford Street is a mixed use refurbishment project comprising eight floors of retail and offices. The ceremony was held on the new roof terrace, an occupier amenity JRA has introduced in addition to the building’s extension by two further storeys. Putting a spin on the topping out tradition of planting a tree at the building’s highest level, the team installed a commemorative section of concrete.
Now that the envelope is complete, JRA will begin on the remaining cladding, mechanical and electrical systems and other stages to finalise the shell and core design. The bespoke faience cladding will be installed in mid-August 2017.
Once Academy House is complete it will contribute to the transformation of the Southern side of Oxford Street.
