Park House, Finsbury Circus, London EC2 – Grade II listed

Client: Prudential PLC

JRA retrofit and extended grade II listed Park House for Prudential Assurance. The building is situated at 16-18 Finsbury Circus on the north eastern quadrant and was built between 1915 and 1921 to designs by Gordon and Gunton.

The 26,000m2 building was updated to provide modern office space suitable for City occupiers whilst preserving the historic character in features like the Circus façade, grand staircase and ground floor banking hall. The commission involved re-ordering the internal spaces to align levels, creating more rational and efficient office floorplates. To achieve this, existing lightwells were covered and new office space was created around an atrium to provide a working environment which is flexible and blends the historic facades and entrance halls with a modern office environment. In addition, JRA introduced energy efficient plant and maximised insulation and daylighting to enhance the sustainability of the building.

Park House has proven popular with major City of London occupiers and tenants include City Index, Bloomberg and Cisco.
