101 Moorgate Crossrail Oversite Development, London EC2

John Robertson Architects has designed the Moorgate Oversite Development (OSD) for Aviva Investors as part of the Crossrail infrastructure project which is aimed at relieving London’s crowded tube network. The Moorgate OSD will form part of the new Liverpool Street station’s Moorgate entrance. JRA’s designs take into account the context and rich heritage of the local area, reflecting the surrounding buildings in the carefully considered scale, proportion and detailing of three distinct coloured facades.

The OSD at 101 Moorgate will comprise six floors of office space above the Moorgate Crossrail shaft and retail at ground floor level, spanning a total of 8,200m². A new office entrance is located at the north end of the site and retail accommodation can be accessed from Moorgate, Moorfields and Moor Place. The building has been designed in close consultation with the Crossrail engineering team to ensure integration with the complex transport structures to the south end of the site and below street level.

The development will incorporate a number of positive environmental features to maximise daylight and insulation. It will also utilise sunshading, sedum roofs, geothermal piles for heating and photovoltaic panels generating around six percent of its electricity needs. The building is due to receive a BREEAM Excellent rating.
