Client: University College London
John Robertson Architects has recently completed the refurbishment of 25 Gordon Street as part of the ‘Transforming UCL’ drive currently underway by UCL Estates. The scheme delivers a vibrant new heart for the UCL campus comprising the Union bar, academic welfare services and modern teaching facilities for the Maths Department.
A strong visual design language was deployed to improve 25 Gordon Street’s identity and bring cohesion and improved legibility to the various facilities that had previously suffered from a piecemeal approach in terms of decoration. The spaces delivered range from vibrant social areas to high tech meeting rooms and quiet intimate spaces, supporting a variety of different modes of working.
The project was JRA’s second partnership with Structuretone and UCL, and the relationships established at earlier project, 19 Torrington Place, helped to deliver this SKA Rating ‘Gold’ turnkey scheme in just 4 months, ready for the new academic year and influx of freshers.
