JRA has completed its first built hotel project at 24-30 West Smithfield, providing a 326 bed Premier Inn branch for client Whitbread. Now known as Premier Inn London Farringdon, the existing 1970s north block was originally the headquarters of Dewhurst Butchers. JRA produced designs to convert the block and extend it by building an additional wing within the site. The team worked closely with City Planners to extend the new frontage on the Cock Lane elevation, mirroring the materiality of the surrounding streets in keeping with the conservation area.
The delivery of the design was carried out by Axiom Architects with contractor Gilbert Ash. They realised the conversion and extension of the building, and established JRA’s designs for a large glazed atrium and communal facilities within the hotel.
Following a phased delivery, Premier Inn London Farringdon is now welcoming guests.
