JRA has completed the refurbishment of Ludgate, London. The 13,000m2 office building is located on a prominent island site at the junction of Ludgate Hill and New Bridge Street and was originally built in 1999. Greycoat and Goldman Sachs commissioned JRA to provide a comprehensive internal and external refurbishment.
The team reconfigured the two main entrances on Ludgate Hill and New Bridge Street, as well as updating the façade by removing the existing brise soleil and replacing planters with an eaves treatment. This has enhanced the character of the existing building whilst modernising the external cladding.
Internally, JRA increased the lettable office space and created generous cycle provisions at lower ground level. By relocating the plant to the basement, the team was also able to provide spacious terraces for occupant wellbeing, which offer stunning views of St Paul’s and the surrounding City.
