John Robertson Architects led a workshop for Sculpture in the City on Wednesday as part of the educational outreach programme by Open City. The workshop was held for 12-13 year olds from a local secondary school at One Great St Helen’s, recognisable in our skyline as the Hiscox building.
JRA’s design of One Great St Helen’s enabled John Robertson and a team of JRA architects to use the venue as a real life example when describing the exciting work architects do.
The workshop began with a presentation providing insight into how architects go about designing buildings, enabling the children to evaluate the context of the city through architecture. The workshop then broke into groups to sketch some of the world famous buildings visible in the skyline.
Some fantastic drawings were produced on the day, with JRA able to excite the next generation of designers and gain fresh perspective on the city themselves.
