Hawks Road Clinic, Kingston upon Thames

Hawks Road is a mixed use project that has been designed by JRA to maximise the value of an underutilised NHS Property Services site. The scheme includes 107 apartments, retail areas and a new health clinic. Planned in three blocks, the new buildings are tied together by high quality public realm which allows access through the site onto the neighbouring Cambridge Road Estate. The mix of uses at ground level creates an inviting pedestrian environment and safe play space for residents and visitors.

The buildings have been articulated with a series of projecting and recessed balconies and a variety of brick colours and textures, which break down the mass of the blocks and enliven the streetscape towards the busy junction of Hawks Road.

This project has been developed in response to the emerging London Plan. It looks towards the future of sustainable housing with no fossil fuels being used on site and by increasing the performance of the building fabric to an optimum level.
