We are delighted to announce that JRA has been selected as a finalist for the 2024 Inspire Future Generations Awards’ Social Value category for our 2024 London Festival of Architecture Studio Lates: ‘London: A Symbiosis of Urbanity and Nature’ that gave voice to our local communities and expert collaborators on reimagining London as a city where nature takes precedence.

The core goal of our project was to amplify voices that are seldom heard. We were motivated by the fact we are building a world for our children where the desires of these main actors are missing. The project’s central purpose was to actively listen to the raw and authentic insight of children whose views were untainted by preconceptions and societal biases.

We reached out to Star Primary School in Newham, a ‘Unicef Gold Rights Respecting School’ who have a strong stance on sustainability and inclusivity, and tight links with the community. The school is based in one of the most ethnically diverse areas in the UK, where 220 languages and dialects are spoken, and one of the poorest London boroughs. (1) The participants ranged from ages 7 to 11 years old.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony party at the Building Centre on January 13th. It will be a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded people, and we look forward to celebrating everyone’s achievements.

Thank you Thornton Education Trust (TET) for selecting our project!
