JRA is delighted to announce that the office building Bloom Clerkenwell has reached practical completion. The ten storey building was commissioned by client HB Reavis. It forms an oversite development above Farringdon station, where underground, Thameslink and the new Crossrail intersect, making it one of the best connected offices in London.
The building comprises 14,500m2 of flexible office accommodation, prime retail and landscaped terraces. The practice was responsible for the concept designs at Bloom, and following this performed a monitoring role on behalf of the client.
The designs took cues from the materiality of the surrounding cityscape to create a distinctive, contemporary building and internally, user experience was prioritised. Tenant amenities include a fitness studio, extensive bike storage and facilities, and an array of plant-filled terraces, which make up 11% of the site, providing views across the capital. JRA was guided by the principles of WELL, a scheme dedicated to advancing health and wellbeing through design. The project is expected to reach the scheme’s highest rating of WELL Platinum and has already been commended for its digital connectivity and innovation, by being awarded WiredScore Platinum. Bloom is also set to be recognised for its unparalleled sustainability. The building is on target to gain BREEAM Outstanding, the certification’s highest category, and to be Net Zero Carbon in operation.
